What does Isaiah 66:22 about new heavens and new earth refer to in Revelation?

Isaiah 66:22 refers to the same event as Revelation 21 and 22: after the present universe is destroyed, God will create new heavens and a new earth for all eternity. In that eternal state, Israel's seed and name remain before the Lord, preserving Israel's unique position.

Les teaches that when a Bible student reads Isaiah 66:22, the mind should immediately jump to Revelation 21 and 22. He explains that even though the present creation is going to be destroyed—the whole universe, not just the planet—God will create new heavens and a new earth for all eternity. Isaiah is referring to that same event. In the eternal state, Israel will still be the apple of God's eye and keep a unique position, because her seed and name remain before the Lord. Members of the body of Christ are in an even better position, but God will never lose sight of His covenant people.

Isaiah 66:22

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
