Les Feldick Bible Study

Does God choose the way humans do, by size or numbers?

No. God does not choose by size or numbers. Scripture says the Lord did not set His love upon Israel or choose them because they were more in number, for they were the fewest of all. God did the opposite, choosing the smallest group, starting with one man.

Les explains that Israel is God's chosen people, a special nation at the top of the heap and king of the hill in all of God's dealing with the human race. Yet Deuteronomy verse 7 says the Lord did not set His love upon them or choose them because they were more in number, for they were the fewest of all. Les contrasts this with a time when bigger is better, where corporations gobble up competition, but God does not work like man. God did not choose the biggest nation or the highest number of people; He did the opposite, choosing the smallest group, starting with one man. Les notes the covenants are one of the seven items Paul has, focusing on Israel's position as the favored covenant nation of God, then moves to Isaiah 66:22.

Deuteronomy 7:7
