What promises did God make to Abraham in the Abrahamic covenant?

God promised Abraham that He would make of him a great nation, give him a geographical area of land, and one day come to be his king and government. From Abraham would come a distinct nation, Israel, through whom God would bring the plan of redemption to the whole human race.

Les explains that in Genesis 12 God does something totally different: out of the one race of Adam, He picks one man, Abraham, down in Ur of the Chaldeans. Abraham was originally a Syrian, not a Jew, and Sarai was also; he migrated into northern Syria. God promised that out of Abraham He would bring about a nation of people totally different from any other race on earth, and that nation would be the vehicle through which God would communicate and bring the whole plan of redemption to the whole human race through Israel. Les summarizes the Abrahamic covenant as God's promises in Genesis 12: “I will make of you a great nation,” “I will put you in a geographical area of land,” and one day He would come and be their king and government.
