Has God set Israel aside even though they are still His covenant people?

Yes. God has set the nation of Israel aside for a time, but they remain His covenant people. Scripture and the Abrahamic covenant show He is not finished with the Jew, even though most of Christendom believes He is. Israel is still connected to the Bible and God's promises.

Les teaches that although the vast majority of Christendom thinks God is all through with the nation of Israel because they rejected and crucified their Messiah, that little nation is still God's covenant people. He grants that God has set them aside, and he reviews the timeline: after the first 2,000 years from Adam, God called Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldeans and gave him the Abrahamic covenant in Genesis 12, promising a great nation, a geographical land, and one day God would come to be their king and government. Through Israel God would bring the plan of redemption to the whole human race. So Israel is set aside but not disconnected from God's covenant purpose.
