Who else in the Bible offered to be blotted out of the book of life to spare Israel?
Moses made this offer, asking God to spare Israel and, if it would help, blot his own name out of the book of life. Paul expressed a similar willingness, wishing himself accursed from Christ for his Jewish brethren. Scripture records both examples of sacrificial intercession for Israel.
In Romans 9, Paul says he has great heaviness and continual sorrow in his heart for Israel and could wish himself accursed from Christ for his brethren. The context asks who else said almost the same thing: Moses. Moses pleaded with God to spare the people and, if it would help, blot his name out of the book of life, but spare Israel. Les explains this as evidence of Paul's and Moses' love for the Jew, in a section where Paul deals with Israel's past, present, and future.
