Who is in control of the believer's security in Christ?
The sovereign God controls the believer’s security in Christ. Scripture declares that God will never cast us out, and the believer is totally under His control and power. No person, including oneself, can supersede His power or remove the believer from the body of Christ.
Les teaches that these closing verses of Romans 8 are like the crescendo of a great orchestra, building throughout the first eight chapters until Paul, if we could have heard him, would have shouted that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, the love of God. He illustrates this by answering someone who thought he could cast himself out by committing some horrible sin: you cannot touch your position in the body of Christ any more than someone else can, because we are totally under the control and power of the sovereign God, and nobody can supersede His power. Tribulation or distress cannot separate us.
