How much control does God have over believers?
Believers are totally under the control and power of the sovereign God, and nobody can supersede His power. Once in the body of Christ, a person cannot cast himself out by sin any more than someone else can. Nothing can separate believers from the love of Christ or the love of God.
Les explains that a believer cannot remove himself from the body of Christ by committing a horrible sin; you cannot touch yourself so far as being in that position any more than someone else can. He stresses that we are totally under the control and power of the sovereign God, and nobody can supersede His power. Les compares the closing verses of Romans 8 to the crescendo of a great orchestra, building throughout the first eight chapters, as Paul declares that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ and the love of God. Verse 35 then goes over things like tribulation and distress.
