Why is the believer's position in Christ and in God safe?

The believer's position is safe because the old Adam is dead and the old sin nature is reckoned dead, while the new life is hid in God and in Christ. In that threefold position nothing can touch the believer, just as the Jews were safe by the blood and Noah was safe in the pitched ark.

Les teaches that the believer has a threefold position: in Christ and in God, and in that glorious, safe, secure position nothing can touch us. He explains that the old Adam is dead, God reckons the old sin nature as dead, and the believer's life is hid in God and in Christ. To illustrate this safety, he uses the old black walnut: after the outer shell and the next shell are cracked, the delicious meat is found deep inside. He also points to Old Testament analogies: the Jews on Passover were safe while the death angel passed through Egypt because the blood was on the door; Noah and his family were safe amid the flood's destruction because the wooden ark was lined with pitch, which in Hebrew meant atonement. Likewise, believers in the midst of earth's wickedness are in Christ and are safe, with nothing to worry about, for Paul says not to worry about the one who can destroy the body but cannot destroy the soul.
