Les Feldick Bible Study

What should you do when two things God says seem contradictory?

When two statements of God seem contradictory, believe both rather than arguing with them or trying to reconcile them. Leave each where God said it, and let Him settle the seeming controversy. Do not become overly taken by either side; hold both truths together.

Les explains that Scripture can present two truths that sound contradictory: “whosoever will may come” and being “chosen from before the foundations of the world.” The scholar’s answer was: if this is what God says, believe it; do not argue with it or try to reconcile it. Leave it there because that is what God says, and let Him settle what we think is the great controversy. Les adds that you should not get too taken by either one alone, or you are out in left field. Rather, reconcile both together: as the human race moves through time, every individual has opportunity of choice, but they cannot choose unless God calls them and elects them.
