What is the world moving toward, and what will Christ do when He comes?
The whole world is moving faster and faster toward that final moment when Christ will intervene once again in human history and set things straight. At that time the curse will be lifted, and creation, which now groans and travails in pain, will see that day, while believers who have the firstfruits of the Spirit look forward to His coming.
Les explains that the whole creation—rocks, rivers, trees, birds, fish, animals—along with believers is looking forward to the day when the curse will be lifted. Romans 8 says creation groans and travails in pain until now, under constant duress, in search of food and trying to avoid being food, which is not how God intended it. Les notes that believers who have the firstfruits of the Spirit are the only ones who can anxiously look forward to the Lord's coming; the unbeliever shrinks from it and is not ready.
