Where is the whole world heading, and what will Christ do when He intervenes?
The whole world is moving faster and faster toward that final moment when Christ will intervene once again in human history. When He intervenes, He will set things straight. Creation groans under the curse, and believers who have the firstfruits of the Spirit look forward to His coming.
Les explains that Romans 8 describes the whole creation groaning and travailing in pain until now, under constant duress though that is not how God intended it. He connects this to believers too, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit and are the only ones who can anxiously look forward to the Lord's coming. Unbelievers shrink from it, not ready, and would like to think it all away, but they will not succeed because He is coming. Les wishes people would wake up and see how evident His coming is. The whole world is moving faster and faster to that final moment when Christ will intervene once again in human history and set things straight, and creation along with believers looks forward to the day the curse is lifted.
