Les Feldick Bible Study

What is the destination of the old Adamic nature we are born with?

The old Adamic nature we are born with has only one destination: death, specifically eternal death. Scripture says the wages of sin are death, and everything a lost person does, whether good or bad, piles up wages for eternal doom. This destiny contrasts with God's gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Les teaches from Romans 6:23 that “the wages of sin are death,” and the old Adamic nature every person is born with has only one direction: death, eternal death. Wages are what a person works for and deserves; they are never a gift. Therefore, everything a lost person does, whether good or bad, is piling up wages for eternal doom. The second half of the verse gives the contrast: “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Les explains that wages are earned, but a gift is undeserved, and salvation is that gift. It is not something anyone can earn by even one iota of work; it must be a gift.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
