What does God do the moment we are saved besides making us born again?

At the moment of salvation, God not only causes us to be born into His family by the Holy Spirit, but He also performs another act: He places us as a full heir with Jesus Christ, making us a joint heir and giving us equality with Him. This position is immediate, not earned or attained by striving.

Les explains that the word adoption means being placed as a full son, not merely one born into the family, and not one legally taken from another family, but a son prepared and placed as a full partner with the Father. The glory is that the moment we are saved, we are born into the family of God, but immediately God also places us as the full heir with Jesus Christ. We do not have to work for twenty years like Jacob did for his wives; we do not have to strive and strain hoping to attain this position the moment we believe. That is why we can say Abba Father. This is another act of God that places us as a full heir, and Scripture says we are a joint heir, which implies equality: what is His is hers, and vice versa.
