Why do people in your own church start thinking you're odd when you grow in the Word?
When a believer grows in the Word, fellow church people sense a difference because that believer has gained knowledge of Scripture they do not possess. Consequently, they view him as odd. In truth, they are the ones somewhat odd, since they do not know what the Book says.
Les explains that the issue is not that the growing believer is truly odd, but that the others lack the same knowledge of the Word. Their own church people sense you are different because you have gained a knowledge of the Word they do not have, so they feel you are odd. He points out that in reality they are the ones a little odd, because they do not know what the Book says. This reflects the principle that the world does not know us because it did not know the Lord Jesus.
