Why is it no longer appropriate to call Him just 'Jesus' after the resurrection?

Because 'Jesus' was His name of humiliation associated with His earthly ministry to Israel and going to the cross as sin bearer. After rising in power and glory, titles like Lord Jesus, Jesus Christ, and Lord Jesus Christ are more appropriate, reflecting His resurrection power and heavenly seated position.

Les explains that the earthly ministry of Jesus was His ministry to the nation of Israel and is not the basis of salvation today. The name Jesus was His name of humiliation as He went to the cross as the sin bearer. Once He rises from the dead in power and glory, it is no longer appropriate to refer to Him merely as Jesus. Instead, He is now the Lord Jesus, the Jesus Christ, and the Lord Jesus Christ—titles far more appropriate. The focus becomes the Christ of the work of the cross, the Christ in resurrection power, the Christ now seated in the heavenlies at the right hand of the Father. If we are in Christ, that is the secret, and He is in us as we are in Him.
