Les Feldick Bible Study

Does the Bible say you must have an emotional high or follow prescribed rules to be saved?

No. The Scripture does not say a person must experience some emotional high or go through a prescribed set of rules to be saved. Salvation rests on genuine faith in the Gospel and a genuine salvation experience, not on walking an aisle, joining a church, or having a great white light.

Les explains that since we are justified by faith, God can declare there is now no condemnation. He qualifies eternal security carefully: he is not speaking of any haphazard church member who simply walked an aisle or joined a church, but of someone who has had genuine faith in the Gospel and a genuine salvation experience. When an individual said they had never had that great experience, never seen a great white light, and never had a tremendous emotional upheaval, Les answers, "Of course not." The Scripture does not require an emotional high or a prescribed set of rules. In classes, he went through Romans verses to show people how to know they are saved and how to lead someone who is seeking.
