Did any other nation experience God coming down on Mount Sinai and live?
No. No other nation or people on earth ever experienced God coming down on Mount Sinai with thunder, fire, and His glory and lived. Only Israel did; that unique encounter and invading glory were not seen among any other people or pagan temple.
Les explains from Deuteronomy that Moses reminded Israel of their unique history. He asks whether any other nation had experienced the mountain on fire as Israel did at Mount Sinai. The answer is no. No other people on earth had ever experienced God coming down on the mountain with thunder, fire, and His glory, and lived—but Israel did. Les then connects this to Solomon’s temple, where God’s Shekinah glory filled the house so that the priests did not dare intrude. He notes that no pagan temple has ever shown that kind of invading glory, yet Israel experienced it.
