Les Feldick Bible Study

Did any nation besides Israel experience God coming down on Mount Sinai with thunder, fire, and glory and live?

No. Scripture recalls that no other nation ever experienced God descending on the mountain with thunder, fire, and His glory and lived. Only Israel experienced that at Mount Sinai. Later, at Solomon's temple dedication, God's Shekinah glory filled the temple, but no pagan temple shows such invading glory.

Les teaches from Deuteronomy that when Moses reminded Israel of their history, he asked whether any other nation had ever experienced a mountain on fire like Mount Sinai, or God coming down with thunder, fire, and glory. The answer is no; no other people on earth had ever experienced it and lived, but Israel did. Les then leaps centuries to Solomon building the temple. When the temple was finished and the children of Israel were gathered outside, God's glory came inside and filled it with His Shekinah glory, so that the priests did not dare intrude. Les asks if that ever happened to anybody else, and says you could visit every pagan temple that has ever existed and never find evidence of that kind of invading glory. But Israel did.
