When did Israel become a sovereign state again?

Israel became a sovereign state again in 1948. After centuries of dispersion among the nations, Jewish people returned, established kibbutzes, and the nation gradually reappeared. In 1948, following a war with surrounding Arabs, President Harry Truman became the first world leader to declare Israel a sovereign state.

Les explains that after the Roman army under Titus destroyed the temple and dispersed Israel into every nation, the Jewish people began returning around the turn of the century, setting up kibbutzes. Little by little the nation of Israel made its appearance until 1948, when they had a little war with the Arabs around them. Les notes that Harry Truman was the first world leader to declare the nation of Israel a sovereign state. Les also says he claims that is why Truman beat Thomas Dewey in the next election. The little nation of Israel suddenly became a sovereign state once again, yet the world says God has nothing to do with it and is through with the Jew, but Les points out God promised His mercy would never depart from Israel.
