What did God promise Jacob about becoming a nation?
God promised Jacob that when he went down into Egypt, He would make of Jacob and his twelve sons a nation of people. That promise was fulfilled as the Jewish nation descended from those twelve sons, multiplying in Egypt before Moses led them out.
Les teaches that Genesis records God's promise to Jacob: when Jacob went down into Egypt, God said He would make of Jacob and those 12 sons a nation of people. Les points out that the Jewish nation came from those 12 sons. He connects this to God's purpose of bringing the nation out of Egypt through Moses and preparing them for the coming of the Messiah.
