What did Moses ask God to do when he cried out for Israel?

Moses cried out asking God to spare the people of Israel. He pleaded that if it would help, God could blot his own name out of the book of life, but that Israel be spared. This mirrors Paul's later willingness to be accursed from Christ for his Jewish brethren.

Les explains that Moses said, 'Oh God, spare this people, and if it will help, blot my name out of the book of life, but spare Israel.' This is set alongside Paul's similar statement in Romans 9, where Paul says he could wish himself accursed from Christ because of his love for the Jew. Les uses this to show the depth of intercession and love for Israel.

Exodus 32:32

Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
