Les Feldick Bible Study

Do believers still commit everyday sins and sinful thoughts?

Yes. Believers remain guilty of the mundane sins of everyday living and sinful thoughts, even though they are secure in Christ. Grace is not license; they live in constant awareness, not wanting to sin, yet knowing they can. A true child of God is convicted and seeks forgiveness.

Les explains that grace is not license. Believers should never conclude that because they are safe and secure in Christ, they are free to do whatever they want. Instead, they live in constant awareness that they do not want to fall or commit sin, while also knowing realistically that they could. Les says he hopes he never falls into any great sin, but he acknowledges that all are guilty of the mundane sins of everyday living or thoughts. He points to David as an example: David was a believer who fell into great sin, yet he did not lose his salvation. David begged for forgiveness, and his conviction showed he was a true child of God; otherwise it never would have bothered him.
