How do Old Testament stories like Isaac on the altar preview the New Testament?

Old Testament events like Abraham placing Isaac on the altar serve as previews of the New Testament, where God did not spare His Son but gave Him up to be crucified. Isaac did not struggle or fight back; in complete obedience he allowed Abraham to lay him on the altar, picturing Christ's obedient submission unto death.

Les teaches that many Old Testament things were just a preview of what took place in the New. In the same passage where Paul says God did not spare His Son but let Him be crucified and gave Him up, Les points back to Isaac of old. As Abraham laid Isaac upon the altar, Scripture gives no indication that Isaac struggled, fought back, or tried to lay Abraham low. Instead, in complete obedience he let Abraham lay him upon that altar. That obedience pictures the Lord Jesus, who, as Philippians shows, was obedient unto that kind of death.
