How do believers understand that the universe was created by God's Word?

Believers understand by faith, taking God at His Word, that the universe was framed by the Word of God. He spoke, and it came into being. The visible creation was not made from things that appear; everything created came out of nothing. This truth is comprehended by believers, not unbelievers.

Les explains that through faith—simply taking God at His Word—believers understand that the worlds, the universe, were framed by the Word of God. He spoke it, and it all came into being. The context contrasts this with the unbeliever, who cannot comprehend it, because Paul always deals in the realm of the believer. Faith is not blind but documented; it is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Les also notes that if astronomers say everything is still being created and moving farther out, he can believe that because God is infinite, and there is no outer shell on God's creation. Things seen and tangible were not made out of things that appear; everything created came out of nothing.
