Why are we separated in our lost condition?
We are separated in our lost condition because of the fall of Adam, who was the federal head of the whole human race. Through that fall everyone has come short of the glory of God and cannot enter God's heaven unless God acts on their behalf.
Les explains that recognizing we are lost is the very first step of faith on the road to salvation. We are like sheep without a shepherd, separated because of Adam's fall, since Adam was the federal head of the whole human race. Scripture says everyone has come short of the glory of God, meaning no one can enter God's heaven unless God does something on their behalf. Les also notes that when people are asked why God should let them into heaven, they give various reasons and tend to overlook Romans 3.
