What does the Christian community need today according to Les?
The Christian community today needs deeper teaching of the doctrines God has revealed in Scripture—truths that are not normally taught—so believers can hold fast, believe, and trust what God has said. This is the kind of instruction needed.
Les explains that he is not an evangelist, but he feels the Lord has given him the ability to teach the Word in a way ordinary people can understand. He notes that the teaching in Romans had opened a listener’s eyes to many things she had never heard before, and he recognizes they are teaching things not normally taught and getting a little deeper. He says this is what the Christian community needs today: getting into the doctrines of what God has revealed. Scripture says believers are expected to hang on to it, believe it, and trust in it. Les also stresses that Paul always writes to the believer, not the unbelieving world, so believers have a real reason for living as Christians, though the name Christian has been mangled and not everyone who claims it is truly one.
