What does the Holy Spirit become for a Christian's daily life?

The Holy Spirit becomes the Christian's Law and guideline for daily living—not a set of cold rules, but His warm, loving influence and power. He indwells believers, empowering them and giving them the desire to live pleasing in God's sight, replacing rebellion with willing obedience. This is the Spirit's work, not human effort.

Les explains that the Holy Spirit becomes our Law, our guideline for Christian living, not a set of rules and regulations but His influence and power. Unlike the Law, which sat in cold stone, was severe, condemned, and did nothing to help a person keep it, the indwelling Holy Spirit is warm, loving, and embraces us. As He does so, He gives us the desire to live pleasing in God's sight. He takes away the desire to be a rebel and to be obnoxious and wicked. This is the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit, not me or you. The Law was perfect but powerless, like a mirror that shows what is wrong but cannot clean you; the Spirit provides the power and desire the Law could not.
