How did Satan oppose Paul when he tried to serve God?
When Paul attempted to do something glorious for God, the devil opposed him. Scripture describes this as a law of life: when one would do good, evil is present. The more a believer tries to please the Lord, the more Satan attacks, so Paul faced satanic opposition in his service.
Les explains that Paul was up against the same reality believers face: whenever he attempted to do something that was glorious for God, the devil opposed him. This fits the pattern Paul describes—when he would do good, evil was present with him. Les teaches that the more you try to do what pleases the Lord, the more Satan attacks. He says his own teaching was starting to penetrate places Satan did not want it to go, so he lived in constant fear of satanic attack and relied on the prayers of the saints. Les also notes that Satan was attacking influential people in the ministry, though God had protected them so far. That is what Paul was up against.
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
