When you believe the gospel, what does God see regarding you and Christ?
When a person believes the gospel, God sees that believer in the person of Christ on the cross. This identification is possible because God is omnipotent and omniscient; with Him nothing is impossible. The believer is thus reckoned as having been crucified with Christ, old Adam declared dead in God's mind.
Les explains that Paul is writing as the believer who has reckoned old Adam as crucified and dead, yet old Adam remains an influence in the Christian life. Les maintains that old Adam is crucified and declared dead in the mind of God. The moment a person believes the Gospel, God saw that person in the person of Christ on the cross. This is possible only because God is omnipotent and omniscient, for with Him nothing is impossible.
