What happens to sin through the commandment?

Through the commandment, sin becomes exceedingly sinful, as the law exposes old Adam's rebellion and brings the knowledge of sin. The commandment itself is good and perfect, yet it works death in the man by convicting him, causing sin to appear as it truly is: exceedingly sinful.

Les teaches that the law, or commandment, is good and perfect in itself, but it was killing and convicting the man. Old Adam is shown for what he really is: bent in rebellion, bent to do evil, bent to ignore the law. Through the commandment, sin becomes exceedingly sinful. Romans 3:20 confirms that by the law is the knowledge of sin and that no flesh is justified by deeds of the law.

Romans 7:13

Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
