How should believers serve after being delivered from the law?

After being delivered from the law, believers should serve in newness of spirit, under the control of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the Creator God Himself. Their service is no longer rendered in the oldness of the letter or law, but in newness of spirit, freed from old Adam's curse.

Les explains that when we were in the flesh, under old Adam, the motions of sins which were by the law worked in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. The wages old Adam pays, under Satan's control, is eternal death, whereas with God His wages are eternal life, blessings, bliss, and all good things. Verse 6 begins with 'But,' the flip side: whereas old Adam generated sins that became fruit unto death, believers are delivered from the law, being dead wherein they were held—under old Adam and under the curse. Now they should serve in newness of spirit, under the control of the Holy Spirit, under the control of the Word of God, under the control of the Creator God Himself, and not in the oldness of the letter or the law. Les also notes that the law is not like old Adam; it does not generate sin, and Paul's answer is no.

Romans 7:6
