Where does God place the invisible part of a person according to Les?
God places the invisible part of a person inside the body of flesh. That invisible part is the personality, the 'I,' the id, or ego, and it is centered in the mind, will, and emotion. The mind, will, and emotion we are born with comprise the old Adam, which must die spiritually.
Les teaches that the invisible part of us—the personality, the 'I,' the id, or ego—is placed by God inside this body of flesh. He explains that this invisible part is centered in the mind, will, and emotion, and that the mind, will, and emotion we are born with comprises the old Adam. Even though old Adam lives in the body of flesh that will die, we must appropriate a death to that old Adam, the spirit side of us. Les notes this is where Paul deals the most: the old sin nature we are born with must die spiritually, either in this life by appropriating the work of the cross and being reckoned dead in Christ, or old Adam will experience the second death at the great white throne and be consigned to the lake of fire forever. Physical death comes to everyone if the Lord does not come, but the spiritual aspect is either put to death by faith and the gospel on the cross or experiences the second death.
