What is the gospel of grace?

The gospel of grace is simply believing that Christ died for me and rose from the dead, plus nothing for salvation. It sets Gentiles free from the Judaic system and legalism, placing believers under grace rather than law, and it moves them on to good works through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Les explains that when God introduced the whole gospel of grace, Gentiles are no longer subject to the Judaic system or the legalism of Judaism; they are set free from all that. The gospel is simply believing that Christ died for me and rose from the dead—plus nothing, plus nothing for salvation. Les stresses that this does not mean we stop there. Believers move on, having been created unto good works. They do not give in to old Adam but live above his desires, having the indwelling Holy Spirit and Christ Himself becoming the head of daily living. In Romans chapter 6, verse 14, old Adam will not have dominion because we are not under law but under grace. For over 1900 years, God has been dealing with the whole human race—not just the Gentile but even the nation of Israel—on the basis of His grace. Les admits that very few people, even amongst Christendom, understand the grace of God. He says he does not understand it or pretend to; it is so far beyond human comprehension.
