What is the Gospel of Grace that Paul preached?
Paul preached the Gospel of Grace as the new revelation for the Gentiles: the same Messiah of Israel who was crucified, shed His blood, was buried, and rose from the dead is Savior of the whole human race, not Israel only. It includes justification by faith alone and the Spirit indwelling believers, revealed after the cross and resurrection.
Les explains that these truths are new revelations not found until Paul and not taught in the Old Testament. The Old Testament believer was not told the Spirit dwells within, nor were the Jews told they are justified by faith alone and bought with a price; all this comes after the cross and resurrection. Paul communicated carefully, line upon line, precept upon precept, the Gospel he says he preaches among the Gentiles. The Holy Spirit prompted the word 'that' to distinguish Paul's Gospel from what Peter, Jesus, and the eleven taught Israel. Jesus and the twelve operated under the Gospel of the Kingdom: the King is here, ready to set up the Kingdom offered to Israel since Abraham's covenant, and that message was that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, Messiah of Israel. But the Gospel of Grace is that this same Messiah, crucified, shed His blood, buried, and risen, is Savior not just of Israel but of the whole human race.
