Why should believers yield themselves to God?
Believers should yield themselves to God because they have been raised from the deadness of the old Adam and are now alive unto God. They are to present their members as instruments of righteousness, since they are under grace, not law, so sin shall not have dominion.
Les explains that whether rich or poor or in between, believers have a satisfying life God imparted while in this earthly sojourn. He teaches that Paul admonishes believers to yield themselves unto God as those alive from the dead, because they have been raised from the deadness of the old Adam and are now alive unto God, presenting their members as instruments of righteousness. Les further explains that sin (singular, old Adam) shall not have dominion, and dominion rules like a king. Paul admonishes not to let old Adam have dominion or influence you to live for the flesh, because you are not under law but under grace. Les notes this seems anticlimactic, as one might think the reason would be because you're under law, but it's the opposite. He says this is hard to comprehend: believers have full freedom, not under demands of a set of rules and regulations.
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
