What does it mean to be 'in Christ'?

In Christ is a positional term describing one baptized into the body, hidden in God, and made a new creation. Old things pass away; all things become new. This salvation is a work of creation and God's power, giving new life, new principles and values.

Les explains that 'in Christ' is a positional term for the person baptized into the body, hidden in God, and the same person Paul is talking about. Such a person is a new creation: old things are passed away, and all things become new. This salvation is a work of creation and God's power. Les stresses believers still face trials and testings like the world, but they have a stabilizing power to see them through. Being in Christ also means being reconciled to God by Jesus Christ and given the ministry of reconciliation. The believer has been raised, quickened, given new life, and a new set of principles and values.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
