What happens to people who are not at peace with God?
People not at peace with God experience a troubled conscience, tossing and turning at night as their guilt complex runs roughshod over them. They know they lack peace with God, with fellow men, government, and authority. In contrast, believers rest in perfect peace because the work of the cross has settled everything.
Les explains that people who are not at peace with God lie awake at night, tossing and turning, as their guilt complex runs roughshod over them. They recognize they are not at peace with fellow men, government, or authority, and certainly not with God. By contrast, the believer can lay his head on the pillow in perfect peace with his maker, knowing the work of the cross has settled everything. This peace is accessed by faith, standing in grace (Romans 5:2).
