Les Feldick Bible Study

Why did Les Feldick say believers may have to face tribulations?

Believers may have to face tribulations because persecution is arising against those who stand on the gospel, even within church circles. These are not the tribulation but tribulations—times of trials and sufferings. God uses them to teach patience to believers.

Les explains that believers can recognize the creeping tremors of persecution that are coming, and so we may have to face some tribulations. He clarifies that these are not the tribulation but tribulations—times of trials and sufferings. When we go through tribulation, we gain something from it: patience. Les illustrates this with a friend in Iowa who had a large family and asked him to pray that the Lord would give her patience with her children. He warned her that the only way God will get you patience is through tribulations, and she said, “Forget it.” But Les says that is exactly how God works: when we go through tribulations, it teaches us patience. He notes he has experienced it, and many others have too, such as in a workplace situation—a trying experience whose end result is patience.
