How did the laws and ordinances that were against us end?

The laws and ordinances that were against us ended when they were taken out of the way and nailed to the cross as Christ hung there. That ended it, fulfilling the law. His love put Him on the cross, and by that act the handwriting of ordinances contrary to us was taken out of the way.

Les explains that the handwriting of ordinances that were against us, which were contrary to us, was taken out of the way and nailed to the cross. When Christ hung there on the cross, the laws and ordinances that were against us were nailed there as well. That ended it, and that is why He was the fulfilling of the law. Les then asks what put Him on the cross—His love. As seen in Romans 13, love fulfills the law, and Christ fulfilled the law by His ultimate love in being nailed to the cross. After this, Les moves to Colossians chapter 1, where Paul speaks of being a minister and rejoicing in sufferings for the church.
