What happens to people after they die?
After this life ends, every person enters an eternity. Scripture indicates that eternity will be spent either in God's presence or out of His presence, which is hell. Many people are totally ignorant of this coming eternity and have never considered what happens after death.
Les explains that most people are totally ignorant of an eternity to come. When asked what will happen after death, some guess 'going to hell' without understanding, while others admit they have never thought about it. He stresses that after this life ends—whether ten, eighty, or a hundred years—there is an eternity. Everyone will live in eternity someplace, either in God's presence or out of His presence. He then connects this to grace, noting that if salvation is by grace, we must keep our hands off it and let it be totally the unmerited favor of God on our behalf.
