What was God's new plan for bringing salvation after the tower of Babel?
After dealing patiently with early people for 2000 years, God chose a different plan: He would take one man in whom He could find a particle of faith and who would obey Him. God would make him promises and covenants, bring a special race from him, distinct from all other nations, and work salvation through that people.
Les explains that God had offered restoration and reconciliation if the early people would bring a blood sacrifice, as Abel did and was accepted, while Cain rejected and rationalized it. After 2000 years of patient dealing, God said He would do something still different: take one man with a particle of faith who would be obedient, make him a whole group of promises and covenants, bring out of him a special race different from all other nations, and work a plan of salvation through that race. Les also notes that as soon as God revealed even the embryonic part of this plan of redemption, the devil kicked into high gear, which helps explain why the Jews have suffered so much.
