Why did God call Abraham after the Tower of Babel?

After the Tower of Babel, the human race declined into a lower lifestyle and repeated arrogance. God therefore called one man, Abraham, to do something different. This new calling established the nation of Israel, starting on a high plain with the knowledge of God, as a distinct divine initiative.

Les explains that after the Tower of Babel, the human race declined from a higher knowledge of God into a lower lifestyle, repeating the same pattern of arrogance seen in Pharaoh, whose Egypt became a shambles after each rejected plague. Because humanity kept going down, God determined to call out one man, Abraham, and do something different. This began the nation of Israel, which started on a high plain with the knowledge of God, though it too eventually declined. Les also points to later empires and Reformation Europe as examples of spiritual high points degenerating over time.
