What does it mean that we are created in Christ Jesus unto good works?
God before ordained that believers, created anew in Christ Jesus, should be the practitioners of good works and walk in them. This is not the salvation side but the works side of the Christian life, built on Jesus Christ as the only foundation, as laborers together with God.
Les explains that being created in Christ Jesus unto good works means this is the way God set it up and planned it: the Christian community should be the practitioners of good works, and believers should walk in them. He then connects this to 1 Corinthians chapter 3, where Paul deals with the works part of the Christian experience rather than the salvation end of it. Paul says believers are laborers together with God, God's husbandry, and God's building. We cannot do anything alone, but with God's help, who knows what we can do? Paul, as a wise master builder, laid the foundation, and every believer must take heed how he builds on it, because no other foundation can be laid than Jesus Christ. Christ is the foundation of our salvation experience and of our Christian life.
