What does the completed work of propitiation and redemption accomplish?
The completed work of propitiation, shed blood, and redemption enables God to be just and to justify any sinner who believes in Jesus, declaring them just as if they had never sinned. It accomplishes justification by faith, not human works, and results in these things being imputed to believers and life changes.
Les explains that for all of this to be consummated, the work of propitiation, the shed blood, and redemption result in God being just and also just in justifying the sinner. God is totally just and can never be unfair. He justifies any child of Adam who simply believes in Jesus—not the Jesus of the Gospels but the resurrected Christ. Paul writes that He is the justifier of him who believes in Jesus. Les stresses what is left out: the things people think they must do are not in the text. When we believe, these things are imputed to us, and life changes begin to happen.
