When is the redemption in Christ Jesus appropriated?
The redemption that is in Christ Jesus is appropriated when a person believes, which is faith. It is received not through human effort or ritual but through believing, satisfying the absolute that without faith it is impossible to please God. This is the means by which the redemption becomes personally effective.
Les teaches that Scripture presents two absolutes no one can detour: without faith it is impossible to please God, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission. The shed blood of Christ was the price of redemption, satisfying the blood requirement. Then, as Les explains, all of this redemption is appropriated when we believe, and believing is faith. So both imperatives are satisfied: the blood provides redemption, and faith receives it.
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
