Why is every human being in Satan's slave market?
Every human being is in Satan's slave market because, as sons of Adam, all fall short of the glory of God. Whether they know it or not, they are there, and unless purchased out, their end is spiritual and eternal death.
Les explains that the Greek word agorazo means 'to buy out of the market,' picturing a slave market in Paul's day, in Rome. Slaves came from Europe after Roman legions brought back victims. If not bought out, the Colosseum was the end—fed to the animals, the lion. Their only hope was to be bought out. Likewise, as sons of Adam falling short of the glory of God, every human being is in Satan's slave market, whether they know it or not. Unless purchased out, their end is spiritual and eternal—death. The next word used in this analogy is 'set free.'
