How can a loving God send people to the lake of fire?
It will be easy for God to consign people to the lake of fire because He has done everything possible to keep them from it. He gave His Word and teachers, made salvation available by simple belief without work. Those who refuse to believe reject what God has said.
Les explains that God's whole purpose in giving us the Book is to bring us to salvation, and every human being must reach that point to escape God's wrath. God does everything He can to keep every person from falling under condemnation, and He has made salvation so available. When people ask how a God of love and mercy could consign people someday to the awful lake of fire, Les says it will be easy because He has done everything that could possibly be done to keep them from it. He has given us the Word and men willing to preach and teach it so we can understand that all we have to do is believe. Believing takes no energy or work; it is simply accepting what God has said. But many do not want to believe what God has said. When we do believe, we are clothed with the garments of salvation and covered with the robe of righteousness.
