What does God see when He looks at a person who is still in old Adam?

God sees a fallen, unbelieving person still in old Adam as an unattractive spiritual picture: a sepulcher, with a mouth full of cursing and no fear of God. This is the condition of every lost person, not just some, and it reflects humanity’s rebellion and disobedience since the garden.

Les explains that Romans chapter 3 presents God’s conclusion about the human problem, and the verses ahead are “not a very pretty picture.” That is what God sees whenever He looks at a human being still in old Adam. Les says, “That’s where He saw me, that’s where He saw you, and that’s where He still sees every lost person.” The description is an opulent sepulcher, a mouth full of cursing, and no fear of God. This traces back to Genesis chapter 3, where Adam rebelled and ate, making mankind a fallen race, totally disobedient to everything God says. The result has been 6,000 years of human suffering, degradation, corruption, evil, and wickedness. Paul then says, “Now we know,” speaking of solid ground and basic scriptural fact, not wishful thinking.
