What is the final verdict for all people, Jews and Gentiles alike?
Scripture's final verdict is that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. There is none righteous and none who seeks after God. The human race stands equally guilty before God, with no ethnic or social advantage. Yet God's righteousness is by faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe, with no difference.
Les explains that after the prosecuting attorney has laid out all his reasons and categorized the human race into three areas, Scripture gives the final verdict. Jews are not better than Gentiles; both are proved to be under sin, none righteous, none seeking after God. That verdict levels the playing field. Then in Romans 3:22-23, the righteousness of God is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all who believe—Jew and Gentile, black and white, rich or poor—there is no difference. Nobody can claim a better or lesser advantage. Les also notes that no matter how deep a sinner goes, God's grace is always greater, but that is never licensed to see how far we can go.
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
