Why was Jeremiah in a dungeon?

Jeremiah was imprisoned in a dungeon because the Jews did not like what he said. Rather than listen to his prophecies or adhere to what God was trying to tell them, they threw him into prison. The Babylonians later found him there.

Les teaches that Jeremiah was down in a dungeon because the Jews did not like what he said. Instead of listening to his prophecies or adhering to what God was trying to tell them, they threw him in prison. That is where the Babylonians found him. He is called the weeping prophet because he could see what Israel was heading into as they went deeper into sins like those later described in Romans 1.
